Outage Starter Kit

A realistic plan to keep essentials running—without overbuying.

Do this first

  • Pick your essential loads: fridge, a few lights, phone + Wi-Fi.
  • Decide: portable power first (most people), then expand if needed.
  • Make a simple ‘critical outlet’ plan (where things plug in during an outage).
  • Test it once for 30 minutes. Fix what’s annoying before you need it.
  • Only then consider upgrades like larger batteries or whole-home backup.
